What can Home-Start help with?

Families come in all shapes and sizes.
Any Dudley Borough family with a child under 5 can access Home-Start support.

We understand life can be unpredictable or challenging for everyone at times and we understand the demands and pressures of family life. Parents may be struggling with the emotional and physical demands of having young children or dealing with problems and issues that make family life harder. They may be a lone parent (mum or dad), a two parent or blended family, a co-parent, step-parent, guardian or carer.

Whatever situation a family is in, whatever their circumstances, Home-Start is here to help. We place the family at the centre and wrap our service around them. Our support is personalised to and built around a family’s identified needs, priorities and interests. We focus on helping families achieve their goals. Flexible and friendly in our approach, we offer the sort of support the family tells us would help. This might be focused on one or more areas of family life or on one or more needs or issues.

Some families may need help around a particular area. Others may want help with a few different things.

Different life experiences, stages and situations can impact mental health and wellbeing.
Parenting can bring its’ own pressures and challenges. For many parents, Home-Start support helps them cope better with and manage family mental health and wellbeing.

Support around mental health and emotional wellbeing is one of the most common needs that parents ask Home-Start for help with. This video focuses on supporting perinatal mental health but Home-Start also supports parents with other mental health and wellbeing issues.
